Magazine Prework

For Project 6: Magazine, I would like to do a food magazine. I would like to do this because I already have some ideas about what I want to put in the magazine. I want it to be about Portland food, and I will have an article about vegetarian food as well as desserts in Portland. I have some specific restaurants and places to eat in my mind as well. I chose this magazine cover from Crumbs because I really like how the ice cream scoop is the center of the cover and it pops. The ice cream scoop also relates a lot to the inside of the magazine, as there is an article inside about ice cream.

Project 5: Research and Emulation

For the Research and Emulation project, the goal was to emulate a photo from another photographer. The photographer I chose was Andre Kertesz. We took these photos in our own time, and I took the street part of mine in downtown Portland. The clock picture was from a clock in a store that I thought would work well.

Project 4:Balance and Contrast

For this project, we learned about elements of contrast in color, size, value, subject, and texture to create diptychs, triptychs, and kaleidoscopes. We used Lightroom and photoshop to edit the kaleidoscopes, diptych, and triptych. We went on a field trip to a farmers market to take pictures and I also took pictures in my free time.

Assignment 3: Grids and Color

This is Project 3 for mu Photography class, called Grids and Color. In this project, we explored how different color aspects(complements, warm/cool colors, monochrome) can emphasize certain parts of a photo or change it's mood. We also explored how grids can impact a photo. We edited 5 types of photos in this project: the same photo repeated, edited duplicates of a photo or different photos, custom grids where the photos overlap and come together to create something unique, the same subject but different photos, and a photo edit that creates a mood using color. The color aspects I used throughout my photos were warm colors, cool colors, color complements, and monochromatic colors.
